So we got transfer calls this morning and...(drumroll) I'm staying! and... Elder Whittier is staying! and... We got a new companion!!! Ya you read it right, there are going to be three of us in Joshua this transfer. His name is Elder Gardener, he's from Washington and he had been out 9 months, then had to get eye surgery and went home for 6 months, and just got back today. He seems like a pretty cool guy, I'm excited to get to know him.
So I've got an awesome story. We go over to the Browers house monday night, and James (the dad) basically tells us to fill up the font because he's getting baptized December 12th! It was so sweet!! get ready for this intense story. Their house was foreclosed, and James didn't have a job, they are literally living pay check to paycheck and can't afford it. So first off after they had been praying and things, they found a house in Joshua ward boundaries, that they can afford, that's within walking distance of Renee's work! And on wednesday James was sitting in a gas station parking lot, waiting for his son to get off work, reading his Book of Mormon and this guy pulls in and starts lookin at him. Eventually the guy walks over to him and they start talkin and the guy offers James a job!!! the only catch was he needed 200$ to keep his phones on and buy a laptop, and they had 0 money. So Renee tells James to pray and continue reading the B.o.M. and God will take care of is, so what happens you ask? His son Chris walks up to his dad and hands him $200! Coolest story ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Man he is just on fire right now. Everytime we meet with anyone in his family he wants to be there, it's so awesome to see.
So we also had a baptism thursday. I talked about her last week but her name is Gracie, and she lives in the Burleson area, but has friends in the Joshua ward so she's been coming to Joshua. Both us and the burleson missionaries have been teaching her. It was crazy, one day in church she walks up to Elder Whittier and me, and says "So how do I go about being baptized" So awesome!
I also went on another exchange this week. It was pretty good. We got to teach a less active who usually never sat in at the lessons, and we know she felt the spirit, she just didn't want to admit it. We also got into a house that the 3rd ward missionaries (whose area i was in) hadn't gotten into in like 3 months. That was awesome too. it was a pretty good day. Saturday and Sunday we went to stake conference, which is always good. Our mission president was supposed to speak at the sunday session, but it was running long so they cut him out. Kind of sad I was looking forward to hearing from him.
Thank you very much for the flash drive, it will come in handy. So far we have 2 meals for thanksgiving, possibly 3, and we've had like 8 other offers, it's a rough life as a missionary . Have fun and tell everyone that I say hi!
